Project of the Month July 2019

Our project of the month for July 2019 had a lovely aspect of their garden. However, their outdoor covered space just wasn’t large enough.

Before

After speaking with our clients, it was clear that they were wanting to enjoy this outdoor space every day of the year. They wanted the flexibility of being able to let in natural light in the winter months. They wanted to be able to entertain their friends and family not only in Winter but also throughout the hot Summer. Being able to block out the harsh Summer sun was a key requirement of this project.

During

To optimize the spectacular views, we recommended a Louvre opening roof for their outdoor area. Throughout the construction period, our clients had minimal disturbance to their existing yard and garden. The skill and experience of our builders allowed this to be achieved. And this meant that our clients were able to instantly entertain their family and friends.

After

To be consistent with the original house and landscape design we copied the style and size of the existing round posts and colour scheme. The end result is an alfresco that looks like it was meant to be there from the beginning. It is important that we take a considered approach with all our projects. We like to ensure that our clients are delivered a product that is tailored to their requirements.

Because a louvred roof was the answer here, you can see that the result is glorious. Our clients are now able to sit back and enjoy the landscaped and serene view from under their brand new outdoor area all seasons of the year.

We all want to utilise the space we have in our homes all year round, am I right? Then I may have the answer you are looking for.

Louvre opening roofs can offer you a variety of benefits for those of you who are entertainers or simply like to be able to relax and utilise all the spaces in your home all year round especially the alfresco area.

Why choose louvre opening roofs?

A custom design to meet your alfresco needs

Each home is unique and presents with the opportunity to enhance your outdoor area, pool area or deck area to be transformed into a truly sophisticated and flexible alfresco space.

Individual projects are designed to suit areas, large and small to ensure that you will be delivered an alfresco area that is functional all year round.

You control your alfresco environment

Make the most of your alfresco area each Winter and enjoy the sun by simply opening the louvre roof and letting the rays shine through.

Additionally, throughout the warmer months of Summer, you can shelter away from the heat and glare but still enjoying and making the most of the breeze.

Reduce your energy consumption

Making the most of having a controlled alfresco area leads you to reducing your energy costs.

This flexibility allows you to reduce your air conditioning costs during Summer by giving you an alternate space to an indoor room which most likely will be cooled by an air conditioner.

And conversely in Winter, by maximising the winter sun to create a heat bank in your alfresco area helps in reducing the need to heat your alfresco area with additional heating.

Thus, incorporating a louvre opening roof into your alfresco area , you can gain benefit from saving dollars on alternate energy sources required for heating and cooling.

Aluminium vs Steel – What to choose when building your alfresco

Aluminium vs Steel

At Ultimate Alfresco, creating your dream space is our priority. And there’s a lot that goes into creating an outdoor area for you to live in and love. That’s why attention to detail is so vital.

Detail like understanding the differences when choosing the perfect material to build your patio or pergola with, so you end up with your perfect outdoor space.

For example, the difference between steel and aluminium.

If having your alfresco area look and feel well made and part of your home (rather than being tacked on), then choosing the right material to build with is important.

Here are three reasons we think choosing aluminium can be a better option than steel.

1. Minimal maintenance

Aluminium can be powder coated, where steel frames welded on site cannot. Welded steel frames can only be painted, which requires ongoing maintenance. Paint does not stand up to weather as well as powder coating, so can more easily start to peel or break down. That is visually unappealing, as well as meaning you have to get the paint brushes out or the painters in.

Aluminium frames mean you don’t have to worry about rust causing damage to your patio or pergola frame either. Why? because steel rusts and aluminium doesn’t.

2. No bumpy bits

Steel frames have welded joints, which can be quite unsightly. Building with an aluminium frame means you can use engineered concealed bracketry – creating flush seamless joints. And that is much more visually appealing.

Also, steel beams tend to have visible seams, which can be amplified when painted.

3. Better engineering

Aluminium frames are much lighter than steel frames. This means they can span exceptional distances and are substantially smaller than a steel beam spanning the same distance. Being lighter doesn’t mean aluminium is weaker. Our Louvretec range of opening roofs is made to withstand winds of over 160km/hour.
