Project of the month this August took us to a beautiful property just out of town with a glorious homestead style house.
The only thing missing was an outdoor entertaining area to enjoy their amazing views.
We came up with a design that was sympathetic to the original style of the house and provided practical and generous cover. We used insulated panels with a small corrugated look to keep the agricultural element to the addition. Fully dimmable modern LED lights and a stylish fan completed the project
The clients love their new space and are adding a fireplace and kitchen to finish it off nicely. They haven’t stopped there either.
They have been inspired to create a full resort like feel and are now adding a pool just off the new Ultimate Alfresco.
We love to inspire at Ultimate Alfresco and our reward is seeing how much people love their new lifestyle.

August in Albury Wodonga and surrounds is renowned for fabulous outdoor Winter living. The crisp mornings followed by beautiful blue winter skies. Above all, is a great time of year to spend outdoors with family and friends.
So why not take advantage of this glorious location and add luxury to your alfresco area. Have you ever imagined having your own luxurious Winter outdoor living space right on your doorstep.
If so, let’s take a look at inspirational ideas on how to create your own welcoming alfresco.
Your dream of having a retreat in your own back yard can be achieved relatively easy. You can even achieve this on budget. For instance, why not incorporate a simple path of stepping stones directed towards a quiet place set in the garden. Similarly a favourite scented tree may be the perfect setting to place a table and chairs. Either way, you can enjoy a pot of tea in the warm Winter sun.
Day Beds + Luxe Fur
Day beds can provide the perfect spot for an afternoon snooze. Fill the day bed with luxe cushions and fluffy blankets. And you have just created yourself a most welcoming position to relax, read your favourite book or simply sip tea.
However, if you want to add further cosiness, simply enhance with some faux fur and sheepskin rugs. By purposefully draping these over chairs and benches, you create an elegant space. A space that will entice anyone to sit and relax. Or in short, enjoy the luxurious atmosphere and of course your company.
It is important to remember that if the daybed is exposed to the elements, then be sure to consider weatherproof materials. Likewise have a safe store away container for your delicate cushions and blankets.
With careful contemplation of integrating lighting into your outdoor area. You can achieve a dramatic effect.
Imagine the softness of string lights hung from tree to tree. Or choose a selection of pendants carefully positioned to provide a sleek and sophisticated feel. Or perhaps some boho inspired tea light candles twinkling in the evenings.
As a result you are able to provide a wondrous and opulent atmosphere.
You may even consider some practical extra lighting around stairs and eating areas. As a result these serve dual purpose and create practical and radiant entertaining areas.

Winter in the Albury Wodonga and surrounds is the perfect time to relax and entertain outdoors in your luxurious patio area.
So, lets take a look at what we suggest…
Include a bar
Mulled wine in the cooler months is one great way to stay warm. So why not serve it from your very own private patio bar.
Who needs to go on vacation when you have all the joys of a resort type feel at your back door? Because by simply adding some bar stools and table and perhaps even a pool table, you can create a fun and deluxe entertaining space.
Blend the outdoors with the indoors
Create another room in your house that just happens to be outside. By making your patio area a welcoming and appealing space.
You will find yourself more inclined to spend time there all year round by seamlessly blending it with your indoors. Most importantly, it allows you to use it for lounging, cooking or dining with family and friends.
Relax & be warm
Who doesn’t love to curl up on a soft, cosy sofa in the outdoor air? By adding lounge settings or day beds with puffy backrests and plenty of cushions, you instantly create a sense of luxury. Top it off with some warm cosy blankets and a plush rug under foot. Who wouldn’t want to come and visit you in the cooler months?
With plenty of designs and sizes in gas heaters, you would be unwise to not to add one to your outdoor patio area. Not only are they affordable but also emit an abundance of heat to your patio area. So, this means you and your guests remain comfortable during the cooler months. Also, gas heaters come in the guise of eye-catching fire pits – instantly adding luxury to your alfresco area.

Your dream alfresco is complete and you’re almost ready to show it off and enjoy – all you need are your outdoor furniture essentials.
There are so many choices available these days, which can be an exciting adventure deciding what to have – or it can be slightly overwhelming.
Here are three things to consider to help you furnish your dream alfresco.
1. How will you use your space?
Do you host more formal style dinners, with beautifully presented dishes to everyone sitting at a dining table? If so, then choosing a sleek outdoor modular dining setting can create a more modern and structured style. If you have a larger space, adding a modular style lounge and modern outdoor chairs will add to the look (as well as offer additional seating). Or, if you do want to soften the look slightly, you can always accessorise with beautiful outdoor cushions.
Alternatively, a natural-product dining setting (such as wicker or wood) with comfy chairs can create a more comfortable and relaxed environment. Or forgo a dining setting altogether and fill your patio or pergola with comfy outdoor sofas and ottomans.
No matter what your style is, if you entertain large numbers, consider using an outdoor dining setting with an extension table.
And, if your outdoor space allows, you can choose both an outdoor dining setting and a modular lounge. However, if you only have space for one, let how you plan on using your alfresco be your guide.
Most outdoor furniture offers a range of colour choices, which can make it tempting to choose ultra-trendy colours. If you plan on updating the look of your alfresco area regularly, then this may be a good option for you.
Alternatively, selecting classic colours and looks offers you more longevity and usually a wider choice of styles.
Like colour options, you also have the choice of a large variety of different furniture types. The great thing is that most modern outdoor furniture have easy care and maintenance. The key thing to remember is that quality matters, and like so many purchases, you will get what you pay for.
You can help preserve and protect your outdoor furniture from the effects of weather by storing it for part of the year (usually winter). If you’re going to do this then choose outdoor furniture that is easily stackable.
And, if you really hate looking after your furniture some of the most durable outdoor furniture materials include aluminium and all-weather wicker furniture.
Use these outdoor furniture essentials tips to complete your dream alfresco.

The warm weather has arrived, which means moving your entertainment outside.
To make the most of your alfresco entertaining, here are four easy tips to help you and your guests enjoy your alfresco area.
1. Keeping the bugs away
Outdoor entertaining is part of the Australian culture, and battling the flies and mosquitos can sometimes be a challenge.
A great tip is to spray your tables or tablecloths or placemats with a bug repellent before setting your table.
Then, include in your table setting mix of non-scented candles and citronella candles. This adds ambiance as well as keeping those pesky mosquitoes and flies away.
Turning your glassware upside down until your guests use them is great for not ending up with any surprise beasties in your drink.
2. Prepare early and keep it simple
Alfresco entertaining is about enjoying your time with family and friends.
To make sure you minimise your time in the kitchen and maximise your time with your guests, keep your food simple and prepare as much as possible before your party.
A couple of simple (or unusual) salads with our BBQ Salmon Steaks recipe works a treat. Or go for a chilled seafood platter you can prepare beforehand and keep in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.
3. Don’t forget the drinks!
Greeting your guests with a smile and a glass of their favourite wine or beer puts everyone in a great mood.
Then, while you all relax and enjoy some nibbles, have an ice bucket in the center of your alfresco lounging area where everyone can place and easily reach their preferred wine, beer or other beverage.
If you reminisce about the bygone days of the punch, bring out your treasured punchbowl your grandmother gifted you, make a sangria and enjoy the party.
Dance the night away
You can’t beat a really good playlist.
Music makes for a memorable party. Whether it’s…
background music as you discuss the important issues of life
listening to Dave tell his “stuck in an elephant umbrella stand” story for the zillionth time
clearing the tables to dance under your disco ball…
Know your crowd and pick the appropriate music – after all, you really don’t want the baby elephant walk playing when you want to disco!
